Apartments Evacuated After Fire Breaks Out At Complex In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters battled a blaze at an apartment complex in Colorado Springs Tuesday afternoon. The improper disposal of a cigarette was the cause of the fire.

The two-alarm fire broke out at the Quail Cove Apartments near South Circle and Interstate 25. Crews evacuated the units.

The roof of the building was badly damaged. The fire caused $2.8 million in damage.

The Red Cross reported that 18 people were displaced by the fire.

Fire investigators said someone didn't dispose of a cigarette properly.
