9 Best Checks/Fights From The Avs Season So Far

DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Avalanche's season has been somewhat rocky so far, but it certainly hasn't been lacking in aggression.

There have been many intense hits and even some fights during Avs games, and Getty Images photographers have been there to capture some of the craziest of them.

The following are the nine best hockey hits or fights captured by those photographers in the first quarter of the 2014-2015 season:

9. Jarome Iginla and Brayden Schenn

Okay, so this isn't really a fight, but is looks like something straight out of The Karate Kid, except with skates. John Mitchell of Avalanche looks like he is taking a flying leap in an effort to kick Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby in this photo taken on Nov. 20. And check out his facial expression. Warrior!
