3 Times In A Week: TCF Bank In Westminster A Magnet For Robberies

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – The same bank in Westminster has been robbed three times in one week.

The latest robbery of the TCF Bank located at 7206 Federal Boulevard occurred on Saturday just before noon. The suspect was described as a black male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing thick glasses, a gray and black jacket, red shirt and a gray, knit hat. He fled in a gray, older sedan.

The Westminster Police Department and FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force are investigating. They don't believe the robbery was committed by a suspect police say robbed the bank two previous times in the last week.

The first robbery occurred on Tuesday.

"A man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was presented. No one was injured during the incident," police said in a statement about Tuesday's robbery.

Police said the same suspect robbed the bank once again on Friday at approximately 5 p.m. He was described as a white or Hispanic man, approximately 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8 with an average build. He was wearing black shoes, dark pants, a tan jacket with a fur collar and a black hat.

Robert Trujillo of Westminster wonders if the bank is doing enough to stop the robberies.

"Seems to me they don't care much if they get robbed, or if you're not taking extra measures after the first time, I think something's probably wrong," Trujillo said.
