20th Street Bridge Closed For Emergency Repairs
DENVER (CBS4)- The 20th Street Bridge over Interstate 25 was closed Friday afternoon for emergency repairs to a damaged expansion joint. The bridge reopened just before 6 p.m.
Crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation began repairs immediately. The bridge was expected to remain closed until after 8 p.m. Friday but repairs were completed early.
CDOT believes the increased traffic associated with the Colorado Avalanche-Detroit Red Wings Alumni game at Coors Field will be impacted by the closure.
Additional Information from CDOT:
Traffic headed to the the ballpark from southbound I-25 should exit at Park Avenue West or continue south from 20th Street to Speer Boulevard, turn around and go back north on I-25 to 20th Street. Traffic exiting northbound I-25 to 20th Street will not be impacted and drivers will be able to travel on eastbound 20th Street, east of I-25, to Coors Field and to other locations in downtown. Travel on westbound 20th Street from I-25 also is not impacted.
