2 Killed In Head-On Motorcycle Crash Near Horsethooth Reservoir

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Two were men were killed Sunday after a head-on collision involving two motorcycles near Horsetooth Reservoir west of Fort Collins.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, at approximately 2 p.m. Ryan M. Gorter, 28, of Boulder was riding a motorcycle westbound on Larimer County Road 38E when he crossed over the center line and crashed head on with a motorcycle driven by Rick Ross, 55, of Loveland.

Both men were ejected from their motorcycles. Gorter died at the scene and Ross was taken to the hospital where he died.

Troopers don't believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, but excessive speed may have played a role.
