2 In Custody Following Police Chase In Southwest Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - Two suspects are in custody following a chase in southwest Denver Monday afternoon.

According to police, officers spotted a vehicle they believed was involved in a recent shooting and tried to pull it over. The driver chose to flee and a chase ensued.

Copter4 was over the scene after officers disabled the suspect vehicle, which crashed at West Jewell Avenue and South Yuma Street. One suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the crash. The other ran on foot and a perimeter was set up. Canine units and a SWAT team were called in for the search and the suspect was located in a nearby backyard of a home a Vallejo Street.

"We got a bunch of calls saying the house was surrounded by police," said homeowner Tomasita Perri. "Thank God we weren't her because we probably would have been freaked out."

One of the suspects was shot by officers during the ordeal but nobody else was hurt.
