1 person found dead during response to RV fire in Denver

One person was found dead during the response to an RV fire on Vine Street in Denver on Saturday morning. 

DENVER FIRE

According to the fire department, crews responded to the all of 2716 Vine Street, where on person was found dead inside an RV that had caught fire. Denver Police Department responded to conduct a death investigation. 

The crash happened around 7 a.m. Neighbors told CBS4's Rick Sallinger the victim was an elderly man who spent most of his time in the RV behind the property of his daughter's home.

A loud explosion could be heard as the fire sparked, engulfing the RV in a large fire ball. Neighbors say the man used the RV to travel worldwide, even putting it on different sea vessels.

Many in Denver live in RVs, and the fire department warned the propane in the can make them very dangerous. 

"These are dangerous environments," DFD Assistant Chief Greg Pixley said. "Any time you have propane that perhaps has a malfunction or is misused, it can cause a very significant fire.  

There was also damage to the exterior of of a nearby garage.
