Police arrest Aurora man accused of shooting 2 teens trying to steal his car, killing one
Aurora police arrested one man for the shooting death of a teenage boy and shooting another teenager. Police said it all began when the two juveniles attempted to break into the man's car about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said that residents in the 19400 block of East 59th Place heard a car alarm going off and saw two people dressed in all black attempting to break into a Hyundai Elandra. The vehicle owner, Orest Schur, 27, confronted the two.
That's when they sped away in another suspected stolen vehicle. Schur, who was armed, got into his Hyundai and followed the other vehicle until it crashed a short distance away in the 19500 block of East 58th Circle.
Investigators said that Schur fired several shots at the two he suspected of trying to break into his car. Both teens were struck by gunfire.
One of the teens was rushed to the hospital where he died from gunshot wounds. The deceased has not been identified other than he is believed to be a teenage boy.
The second wounded person ran to a nearby relative's house and then self-transported to the hospital. That teen, a 13-year-old boy, is expected to survive.
Schur is facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
