Election Day 2023 in Colorado

As of about 9:30 p.m., over 758,000 people voted against the measure, which would have dealt with property taxes, and just over 492,000 voted in favor.

Both a tax increase for teacher and staff pay and a proposed mill levy for security and facility upgrades in Douglas County were close in vote count as of about 8:45 p.m.

Coloradans voted 66% to 34% to keep nicotine tax revenue for preschool programs.

The Associated Press called the race at 7:44 p.m. after almost 750,000 people voted in favor of Proposition II, while over 380,000 voted against it.

The Associated Press has called the Colorado statewide election for Proposition HH, saying the property tax reduction measure was defeated.

At 7:42 p.m., AP called the race after 684,387 "no" votes were counted versus 440,743 "yes" votes.

At 8 p.m., Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman held 56% of the vote in his bid for reelection with over 24,000 votes over challengers Juan Marcano's 15,665 and Jeffrey Sanford's 3,081.

Marlene De La Rosa is leading Adam Slutzker and incumbent Charmaine Linsday in Denver's District 5 School Board race.

Around 7:30 p.m., De La Rosa held 59% of the vote with over 8.200 votes to Slutzker's 2,382 and Lindsay's 3,330.

Kimberlee Sia is leading incumbent Denver School Board District 1 Member Scott Baldermann but as of 7:30 p.m., the race was still close with Sia holding just shy of 12,000 votes and Baldermann trailing with just over 9,300.

John Youngquist, a DPS parent and former East High School principal is holding a substantial lead over Kwame Spearman and Brittni Johnson in the race for Denver School Board Member At-Large.

As of 7:30 p.m., he held 63% of the vote with over 50,000 votes to Spearman's 20,000 and Johnson's 9,500.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, 1,271,871 ballots had been returned to county clerks across Colorado on Election Day. 

Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 7. Voters in Colorado can find their nearest ballot drop box or voting center at GoVoteColorado.gov.

Important information for Colorado voters:

• Coloradans should always use trusted sources when searching for information on elections. Information from the Colorado Secretary of State's Office is distributed via ColoradoSOS.gov or GoVoteColorado.gov. Websites ending in ".gov" are government websites.
• Voters can visit GoVoteColorado.gov and select "Contact my County Clerk" to ensure they are only visiting legitimate Colorado Clerk websites.
• All Colorado voters can sign up to track their ballot from when it is sent to when it is counted using BallotTrax.
• Eligible Coloradans can register to vote and update their voter registration at GoVoteColorado.gov through October 30 in order to receive a ballot in the mail. After October 30, Coloradans can still register to vote, receive a ballot, and vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center (VSPC) until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
• Eligible voters who wish to mail back their voted ballot should do so by October 30 to ensure it is received by their county election official by November 7. After October 30, voters should return their ballot to a drop box or voting center.
• In person voting on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, will be available from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
• This year more than 130 voting centers will be available for voters by October 30th and more than 400 drop boxes will be available for voters by October 31st. Some locations will open prior to these dates. Voters can look up their locations, opening date, and hours at GoVoteColorado.gov.
