Zookeeper Injured After Being Bitten By Rhino At Lincoln Park Zoo
CHICAGO (CBS) --A rhinoceros bit one of its feeder's fingers while being fed Saturday at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Checking the feet of the male rhino is a daily preventive medicine ritual at the zoo. Spokesperson Kelly McGrath said how it works is simple. Two zookeepers check the feet in a behind-the-scenes area of the Regenstein African Journey exhibit while a third distracts the rhino, feeding it to keep it still.
All was normal this time until the rhino accidentally bit the feeder's index finger. She was treated and released at a local hospital and McGrath said she is okay.
