Wrigleyville Businesses Working Overtime Due To Cubs Continued Success

CHICAGO (CBS) – Workers in Wrigleyville are working overtime as the Cubs continue play in the World Series.

The press at Sports World is working overtime, creating customer-ordered jerseys. CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez visited Wrigleyville businesses to see what they are doing to keep up with the demands.

"We're running full staff every day," said Sean McNeill, Sports World partner.

And they are rolling out more gear, bracing for another banner night at Sports World.

"I've done 99 Baez in a day, easily," said Rafeal Martinez.

Sports World would not tell CBS 2 exactly how much business is up, but the sound of the press rings in the ears of those at work, even after they leave.

At Sluggers, servers have worked up to 18-hour days.

"You just have to kind of be prepared for anything to happen," said Chelsea Mauger, Sluggers server.

At the end of the day, "everyone is just exhausted."

But the better the Cubs play, the better the Sluggers team is rewarded.

"Sometimes you get amazing, insane tips," Mauger said. "150 percent, and sometimes people forget to tip."

And when the Cubs lose, this employee at Taco Bell said customers are not nearly as nice.

"They were not happy, they were not happy at all," said Dandra Gibant, Taco Bell. "Everybody had attitude. When they lose games, it is a real bad day."

And when Indians and Cubs fans faced off, the tacos were flying. It is an on the job hazard at Taco Bell, but most workers said they are happy to be a part excitement.

All of these business owners are riding on the success of the Cubs and are hoping the success continues.
