Woodstock Ready To Celebrate Groundhog Day
(CBS) -- The Village of Woodstock is gearing up for its biggest day of the year: Groundhog Day.
Woodstock Square will be the place to be as the resident groundhog Willie makes his prognostication.
"The band stand in the middle of the square serves as the podium," said Rick Bellairs, with the Woodstock Groundhog Day Committee.
Bellairs says festivities will begin early.
"We start gathering in the park, depending on the weather, I'd say about 6:30," Bellairs said. "I know that one year when it was bitterly, bitterly cold people tended to stay inside Starbucks or sit in their cars with the heaters on until the last minute."
The event is expected to go on as planned at the Gazebo in Woodstock Square. The 1993 Bill Murray classic "Groundhog Day" was filmed almost entirely in Woodstock.
This weekend, the Woodstock Theatre was named for Harold Ramis, the late director of the movie.
