Woman Robbed Near Mayor Emanuel's North Side Home

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was robbed early Sunday near the North Side home of Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The 33-year-old woman was walking in the 4200 block of North Hermitage about 1:45 a.m. when someone came up behind her and stole her purse, police said.

Emanuel lives on the same block.

The male then struck her on the lip.

A police officer assigned to the mayor's detail heard the woman screaming and another officer chased the suspect southbound on Hermitage, then westbound on Berteau, the Sun-Times reported.

The suspect got into a silver SUV driven by someone else and escaped.

The woman refused medical attention.
