Woman Rescued From Chicago River Downtown

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was rescued after she jumped into the Chicago River downtown Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

Two people passing by jumped into the river to rescue the woman near State and Wacker about 4 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit then pulled her from the water. The woman, in her 30s, was taken in fair condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses at the scene said the woman fell or jumped from a boat stopped near the shore.
