Woman Claims DMV Examiner Assaulted Her During Driving Test

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A driver's test takes a frightening turn.

A woman trying to get a new license said she was attacked by an employee of the Secretary of State's office. CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports.

The 32-year-old victim told police her driving test at the Secretary of State's facility on 95th and Martin Luther King Drive took a wrong turn last Thursday.

After being told to pull into an alley, she said she was sexually assaulted by the employee, a man described to be 6-foot-2 inches and weighing about 250 pounds.

"She was taking a driver's test and this incident took place within the vehicle, while being tested," said Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

Secretary of State's Jesse White said Tuesday the woman went directly to the police, but his office is now conducting an investigation.

"We are going to turn over every stone," White said. "If by chance this allegation is true, I will not be a happy camper, nor will that individual."

The man, who has not been charged by police, has been placed in another department by the Secretary of State, that does not deal with the public.

Police said the woman did not seek medical attention before filing the police report. They are not saying anything about possible charges against the Secretary of State's employee.

The case remains under investigation, according to police.

If an individual feels at all uncomfortable with her tester, the Secretary of State told CBS 2 that he/she can request a different one.
