Woman Charged With Hitting Passenger, Flight Crew; Forcing Emergency Landing
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 25-year-old Chicago woman was being held on multiple criminal charges Tuesday, a day after she allegedly struck two people on an airliner headed from Miami to Chicago, causing the flight to divert to Indianapolis.
The trouble occurred on American Airlines Flight 1284 on Monday, when an unruly passenger allegedly struck another flier, and then a flight attendant. Another passenger on the plane said the woman appeared to be drunk.
The pilot told passengers the cabin was being locked down, and the flight was being diverted to Indianapolis International Airport. When it landed, police placed the woman in flex cuffs, and removed her from the plane.
The woman shouted "call my mom" as she was being led off the plane.

Indianapolis Airport Police said 25-year-old Daniela Velez-Reyes, of Chicago, was arrested at the airport. Velez-Reyes was being held at the Marion County Jail on charges of disrupting the operation of an aircraft, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, criminal recklessness, battery, battery against a public safety officer, and battery with moderate bodily injury, according to jail records.
According to the police report, she caused a minor injury to a 36-year-old woman.
After Velez-Reyes was removed from the plane, the flight continued to Chicago.
Court and bail information for Velez-Reyes were not immediately available Tuesday morning.
