Winter Weather Advisory Remains, With A Wind Chill Advisory To Follow

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Chicagoland area until 6 a.m. Sunday, followed by a Windy Chill Advisory from 6 a.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DePage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lake, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Will and Winnebago counties until 6 a.m. Sunday. A Wind Chill Advisory follows the Winter Weather Advisory, for the same counties, beginning 6 a.m. Sunday and until 10 a.m. Monday.

There is a chance of freezing rain during the morning on Saturday. Snow will begin to develop Saturday night and continue overnight.

Blowing and drifting snow is expected Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind chills of below 20 to possibly below 30, at brief times, are expected late Saturday through Monday morning.

Snow accumulations from one to four inches are expected Saturday night, with amounts north of I-88 and I-290.

The National Weather Service warns of Northwest Winds gusting over 30 mph Saturday night, causing blowing and drifting snow and reducing visibility. Travel will be hazardous in open areas.

A Winter Weather Advisory with snow and blowing snow means visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and blowing snow. The National Weather Service advises people to use caution when traveling in open areas and be prepared for snow covered roads.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This is result in frostbite and lead to hypothermia, if precautions are not taken. If you go outside, dress properly for conditions.
