Winning couple of first Cook County marriage license of 2024 got married on Tuesday

Couple receives first Cook County marriage license of 2024 after winning contest

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A love story that began at a Chicago bus station comes full circle as the couple ties the knot in a special ceremony.

Angelica Rodriguez and Alfonso Arroyo won the drawing to receive the first marriage license of 2024. The couple exchanged their vows on Tuesday.

They say it all began when they were waiting on another public service - the CTA.

"We pretty much hit it off while waiting for the bus," Arroyo said. "Cuz you know how the buses drag. They say the time and it's never accurate."

They'll also take home several wedding gifts, including a gourmet dinner box, a sparkling wine basket, dance lessons, and more. The items were donated by several Chicago area businesses.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
