White Sox Claim RHP Kyle Drabek Off Waivers

(CBS) The White Sox have claimed right-hander Kyle Drabek off waivers from the Blue Jays, they announced Friday afternoon.

Drabek, 27, spent most of the 2014 season in Triple-A, where he went 7-7 with a 4.18 ERA. Drabek had a brief stint in the big leagues last year, throwing three scoreless innings in two appareances for Toronto.

The son of former MLB pitcher Doug Drabek, Drabek was a much-heralded prospect when the Phillies took him 18th overall in the 2006 amateur draft. Since then, he's struggled at the MLB level, recording a 5.27 ERA in parts of five seasons with the Blue Jay between 2010 and 204.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox have placed right-handed reliever Nate Jones on the 60-day disabled list. He had Tommy John surgery last July 29.
