West Suburban College Student Injured In Rome

(STMW) -- A University of Iowa student from west suburban Glen Ellyn was seriously injured Wednesday when he fell in Rome while taking part in a study-abroad program.

Andrew Mogni, 20, suffered "serious injuries" in the early morning fall, according to a statement from the university.

The fall "is thought to be an accident, but police are investigating," university officials said.

Mogni, a third-year finance major, had recently arrived for the semester at John Cabot University in Trastevere. His parents are with him as he remains hospitalized in Rome, officials said.

Counseling services would be provided to students in Rome and at the university's Iowa City campus, officials said.
