Man Arrested After Police Chase Ends In Fiery Crash In West Englewood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A driver was taken into custody early Tuesday after he sped away from a traffic stop and led police on a two-mile chase that ended with a fiery crash in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers attempted to curb the car in the 6500 block of South Kedzie, but it sped away, according to Chicago Police.

The officers pursued, and the vehicle eventually crashed about 12:15 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Ashland, police said. No one was injured in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old man, had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody at the scene, police said. Traffic citations were also issued.

Additional details were not immediately available.
