4 killed, 15 wounded in weekend gun violence across Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) -- At least four people were killed and 15 others have been injured in weekend gun violence across Chicago. 

At least three of the victims are minors, and one was just 1 year old. 

The 1-year-old girl suffered a graze wound to the head. while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle in the 5500 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in Belmont Cragin around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

She was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in good condition. 

On Friday night, a man was shot and wounded in a carjacking in the South Loop.

Police said at 8:55 p.m., a man was sitting in his car waiting for someone in the 100 block of East Cullerton Street, near Michigan Avenue, when five men came up to him. All five of the men had guns, police said.

One of the men ordered the victim to get out of his car, but he refused, police said. That attacker then shot the victim once in the thigh and dragged him out of the car.

The five perpetrators jumped into the victim's white Jaguar and drove off, police said.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

In another incident, a rideshare driver was shot while dropping off a passenger in Gage Park, according to police.

Around 4:40 a.m. Saturday morning, the victim, a 40-year-old male rideshare driver, dropped off a passenger in the 5400 block of South California Avenue and then saw an unknown offender on foot firing shots in his direction from in between cars parked on the street.

The victim suffered one gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

Two people are dead following a domestic incident in South Chicago Friday night, according to police.  

Around 9:45 p.m., police responded to a check the well-being call in the 8400 block of South Mackinaw Avenue of a possible woman being held against her will by the boyfriend. Upon arrival, officers knocked and a man comes to the window before closing the curtains -- after some words, the officers heard five gunshots. The officers took cover and called for a SWAT team, and were not injured.

The man, 30, was found along with a woman, 20, in the residence both having suffered gunshot wounds to the head and were pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the incident was a murder-suicide, in which the woman was murdered.

A woman is shot and killed Friday night while driving in Little Village.

Police said around 11:43 p.m., the victim, 25, was driving in a vehicle on the 2400 block of South Homan Avenue when an unknown offender shot into the vehicle from an unknown direction.

The victim suffered one gunshot wound to the left side of the chest and was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel. 

On Sunday afternoon, an ambulance rushing to a gunshot victim to the hospital was struck by a sport-utility vehicle in Ashburn.

At 12:35 p.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in the right arm in the 6300 block of South Troy Street in Chicago Lawn.

He was in good condition when he was placed in an ambulance to be taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. But on the way, police said the Fire Department ambulance was hit by an SUV while headed south on Pulaski Road at 79th Street.

A 26-year-old woman was ricing the SUV east on 79th Street when she hit the ambulance on the rear passenger side, police said. The SUV flipped over and came to rest in the middle of the intersection, police said.

The two paramedics and the driver of the car were uninjured and refused treatment, according to the Fire Department.

Late Sunday, a man was shot and killed in Roseland. At 5:14 p.m., the man – age unknown – was struck by gunfire in the 100 block of East 111th Street.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

In other shootings from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

·        At 7:38 p.m. Friday, a 17-year-old boy was in an alley behind the 5600 block of South Sawyer Avenue when he heard multiple gunshots and felt pain. He was shot in the lower right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

·        At 10:43 p.m. Saturday, two men, 20 and 22, were in a vehicle in the 6800 block of South Wood Street when an unknown man approached and began firing multiple gunshots into the vehicle and then fled. The 20-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the back; the 22-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the left ankle. Both victims were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

·        At 12:21 a.m. Sunday, A man, 32, was involved in a traffic incident with another vehicle on the 5400 block of West Washington Boulevard when the unknown male driver got out, and after a verbal altercation, produced a handgun and shot the victim in the left calf. The offender then fled from the scene in an unknown direction. The victim sustained one gunshot wound to the left calf and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

·        At 4:03 a.m. Sunday, a man, 20, was walking on the sidewalk with other individuals in the 2500 block of South Kedzie Avenue when they observed a red pickup truck approach and yell gang slogans at the group and someone unknown began firing shots at the group from inside the vehicle. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left calf and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. 

·        At 3:46 p.m. Sunday, a 41-year-old woman was in a moving car in the 400 block of South Central Park Avenue in East Garfield Park when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside took out a gun and shot her. The victim was taken To Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

·        At 5:59 p.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was near the sidewalk in the 3000 block of East 83rd Street in South Chicago when at least three men came up and one of them took out a gun and shot him. The victim was struck n the leg and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

·       At 6:49 p.m. Sunday, two men were shot and wounded in the South Side's Oakland community. The victims were near the parking lot for a residential building in the 3600 block of South Lake Park Avenue when both were shot, police said. One man, 33, was struck in the shoulder, and the other, 59, was struck in the thigh. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.

·       At 7:34 p.m. Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Sangamon Street in Englewood when he was shot. He was struck to the right thigh and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

·       At 7:57 p.m. Sunday, a 59-year-old man was in a car in the 12200 block of South Wallace Street in West Pullman when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots. The man suffered a graze wound to the forehead and self-transported to Roseland Community Hospital in fair condition.
