WBEZ Twitter Account Suffers NSFW Hack
As a news organization, the fear of having your social media accounts hacked is very real. It's not a matter of if, but when. And, honestly, the thought of a stranger sending something unsavory to your many followers is enough to keep you up at night when you're a journalist with the keys to your company's Twitter and Facebook accounts.
So it is with a heavy dose of sympathy that I report that WBEZ's Twitter account was briefly hacked this afternoon. The hack occurred around 12:45 p.m.
For a matter of minutes, "Monet Atkins" was in control of WBEZ's Twitter account. The Twitter bio led to a Google shortlink I was not quite brave enough to click. At one point, a post featuring a buttocks was posted, bearing a similarly shady shortlink.
WBEZ quickly wrenched control back from Ms. Atkins, writing, "Sorry, this account was momentarily hacked. We have restored it."

I called WBEZ for more details and was referred to the above tweet.
It is unclear who was pictured during the brief hack, or if "Monet Atkins" is a real person.
