Waukegan Police Arrest Suspect, Seek Second Offender In Attempted Armed Robbery
(STMW) -- Police have arrested one man and issued a warrant for a second after an attempted robbery Tuesday at a convenience store in north suburban Waukegan in which a female clerk was beaten with a gun.
Officers responded to Sun Foods in the 1500 block of Sunset Avenue about 2:30 p.m. and found a clerk had been struck multiple times with a handgun during a robbery attempt.
Police released a video of the incident which shows one of the suspects pointing a gun at the woman, then going behind the counter and hitting her in the head multiple times with the gun.
Zorran Love of the 1900 block of North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan was arrested later that evening, police said.
Love, 18, is charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated battery, Waukegan police said in a statement.
Authorities have also issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Divonte Calhoun, last known to live in the 5100 block of Patterson in Chicago, police said.
The handgun has not yet been recovered, and authorities consider Calhoun armed and dangerous, police said.
Love was ordered held on a $250,000 bond and is in custody at the Lake County Jail, police said. He will next appear in court July 16 in Waukegan.
