Watch: Rookie Sox Pitcher Scott Carroll Has A Humorous Side, Will Endorse Anything
(CBS) White Sox pitcher Scott Carroll made his major league debut yesterday in a 9-2 win against the Rays, and it quickly turned into a heartwarming story. The 29-year-old Carroll earned his first win by allowing just two runs in 7 1/3 innings, and as he left to a standing ovation in the eighth inning, cameras caught his mother bursting into celebratory tears in the stands.
Come to find out, Carroll doesn't just have a quality arm; he's pretty humorous, too.
A couple years ago, well before he was in anyone's consciousness in this city, Carroll made a comical YouTube video in which he volunteers to endorse any product for any company, acting the part of a superstar long before he even reached the majors.
"While being a professional baseball player is a dream come true, the pay is total crap," Carroll says. "And that's why I'm doing endorsements."
