Watch: Kris Bryant Homers In Triple-A Debut
(CBS) It didn't take long for Kris Bryant to make waves in Des Moines.
In his first game at Triple-A Iowa, Bryant homered Thursday night in the I-Cubs' 6-2 win against El Paso. He was 1-for-4 on the night, but it was his opposite field two-run homer in the seventh inning that had everyone talking.
"I went up there today figuring I was due -- I haven't hit one in a while," Bryant told MLB.com. "The home runs I've been hitting were in the Home Run Derby (in the Southern League All-Star Game earlier in the week)."
The 22-year-old Bryant batted fifth Thursday, after tearing up Southern League pitching at Double-A Tennessee, where he was batting .355 with 22 homers and 58 RBIs in 68 games.
