WATCH: Armed Robbers Storm Into Bar, Order Patrons Onto The Ground
(CBS) – Police are looking for two suspects who robbed an East Hazel Crest neighborhood bar and threatened customers before getting into a shootout with an off-duty officer.
Two men in hooded jackets stormed Beano's Bar at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday with money on their minds.
One of the gunmen ordered patrons to get down on the floor. While most complied, a 70-year-old nicknamed Junk Man refused.
In surveillance video, you see patron Bill Worley holding up his hands before heading out the door.
When he was told to lay down, "I says, 'No, you shoot me, you shoot me now. But shoot me real good,"" Worley tells CBS 2's Pamela Jones.
Then there was a shootout between the suspects and an off-duty Evanston cop who tried to take them down.
Police released video Friday, hoping the public can help them solve the case.
Bartenders say the place has been here for 100 years. One employee quit -- unwilling to risk a repeat robbery.
The suspects fled in a four-door, dark-colored Audi.
