Vince Vaughn Picks Up Chicago Cut Tab For Lightning Coach Jon Cooper, Who's Living Large In The City
(CBS) Chicago is treating Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper well.
Really, really well.
On Sunday, Cooper and his Lightning party had their tab at Chicago Cut Steakhouse picked up by Charles Barkley, a friend of Cooper's. On Monday, Cooper's squad earned up a 3-2 win against the Blackhawks in Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Final.
Then on Tuesday night, Cooper and his group of 20 Lightning front office members, assistant coaches and staffers returned to Chicago Cut and had their check again picked up, according to the Chicago Tribune, this time by actor Vince Vaughn, who grew up in Buffalo Grove and is both a Blackhawks fan and friend of Cooper's.
Cooper initially tried to pick up the tab for Vaughn's table, but that didn't fly, the Tribune reported.
"I tell the server and then walk by Vince's table," Chicago Cut managing partner David Flom told the Tribune. "Sure enough, Vince looks at me and says, 'I know that guy just called you over to pick up my check. That's not how we roll in Chicago.' He goes, 'This is Chicago, my town. This is how we treat people. I got his check.' How can you argue with Vince Vaughn?"
Game 4 is Wednesday night at the United Center.
