View: The Dodgers Have A Non-Mascot Mascot
(CBS) The Cubs aren't the only team that has confusion surrounding their mascot, wannabe mascot or lack of a mascot.
The Dodgers do, too. They have what the L.A. Times has humorously taken to calling a "non-mascot mascot" because the organization apparently can't admit the costumed character roaming its ballpark concourse is a mascot. Instead, the Dodgers are calling it " a unique performance character," according to executive vice president of marketing Lon Rosen.
More form the Times on why it's not considered a mascot:
Rosen claims it's not because you'll never seen it inside the stadium, dancing on dugouts or on the field trying to antagonize the opposing team. Maybe in a concourse as he traverses the ballpark, but not out front and leading cheers. Shh, a mascot in hiding.
