Woman shot while walking dog on Chicago's North Side
CHICAGO (CBS)-- A 21-year-old woman was shot while walking her dog in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.
According to police, the woman was walking on the sidewalk near Sunnyside Avenue when shots were fired from a silver SUV around 12:30 a.m.
The victim was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital.
She is expected to recover from her physical injuries.
No arrests have been made.
A neighbor told CBS2 that she was not shocked by the shooting.
"I think there's only so much you can do," said Maria Hugo. "If you have to walk your dog, you have to walk your dog. I don't think anyone expects to walk their dog and get shot."
Police have not said whether the shooting was random or targeted.
