University Of Chicago Hospital Monitoring Child For Signs Of Ebola
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Doctors at the University of Chicago Medical Center have been monitoring a child for possible symptoms of Ebola, after the child flew into O'Hare International Airport with a fever Thursday night.
Officials have not said where the flight originated, but when the child went through health screening at O'Hare, screeners found the child had a fever.
The Chicago Tribune reported the child is a boy who flew in from Japan.
Though the patient had no other symptoms of Ebola, the child was being kept under strict quarantine at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where doctors and nurses are providing care and conducting tests to rule out Ebola.
The University of Chicago Medical center is an Ebola treatment facility designated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The hospital said there is no threat to the public, staff, or patients.
There have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in Chicago.
