Uber Teams With Anti-Cruelty Society To Deliver Puppies On Demand
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some lucky office workers around Chicago today enjoyed a special treat as Uber delivered puppies on demand for a little playtime.
WBBM's Nancy Harty report you could hear the collective squeals and "awws" down the hallway as puppies Turvy and Elizabeth visited a River North ad agency.
Employees snapped pictures and cuddled the two-month-old pups, which eventually started falling asleep in people's arms.
Uber spokeswoman Brooke Anderson says they received thousands of requests for 15 minute playdates with the dozen puppies available during the event, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The $30 fee will go to the Anti-Cruelty Society and will be matched by Animal Planet, which is hosting its 12th Puppy Bowl this Sunday.
Anti-Cruelty Society spokeswoman Colette Bradley says while the puppies were "Uber" popular, there are plenty more.
"If you don't get the one you applied for that you saw in the car, we have plenty more back at the Anti-Cruelty Society for you to come meet," Bradley said.
Anderson says Uber offered kitten deliveries in 2014 and based on the popularity of today's event, they're likely to do it again.
