Two Residents Rescued, Firefighter Hurt In Elmhurst Fire
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two residents were rescued and a firefighter was injured in a blaze that caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to a home last week in west suburban Elmhurst.
Firefighters responding to the fire about 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 10 at a home at 15W414 Fillmore St. found fire venting from the second floor bedroom and roof, according to a statement from the Elmhurst Fire Department.
Two occupants were rescued and the blaze was extinguished by 6:34 a.m., fire officials said.
One firefighter fell on the ice while battling the blaze and was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, fire officials said.
Damage to the building is estimated at about $300,000, fire officials said. The cause remains under investigation.
