CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were shot Thursday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired at 2:50 p.m. in the 5400 block of West Madison Street found a 36-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back, according to Chicago Police.

A 41-year-old man shot in the arm was also at the scene and told investigators he had been on the other side of the street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. His condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The younger man wasn't cooperative with police, who said he has documented gang ties. His condition was stabilized at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, police said.
