Two Men Charged With Setting Bridgeport Garage Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men have been charged with arson, after allegedly setting fire to a garage in Bridgeport on Tuesday.

Multiple fires were reported in the Bridgeport neighborhood early Tuesday morning, including a garage fire that started around 1:15 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Canal Street.

Police said 39-year-old Rafael Delgado, and 19-year-old Anthony Ray Catala were identified as the men responsible. Each man was charged with a felony count of arson.

Delgado also was charged with a count of felony theft. Police said he had a stolen baseball bat and spotlight in his possession when he was arrested.

Both men were due in court Wednesday afternoon.

The Police Bomb and Arson Unit also was investigating a series of garbage can fires in the alley just west of the 3000 block of South Union Avenue a short time after the garage fire, but no charges have been filed in those fires as of Wednesday morning.
