Two Found Shot To Death In Gary

GARY, Ind. (STMW) -- Two men were found shot to death in an SUV Friday night in Gary.

Patrolmen Glenn Mayes and George Hoffman found the Hyndai parked on Massachusetts Street north of 44th Avenue in Glen Park about 8 p.m., Gary Police Cmdr. Del Stout told the Post-Tribune.

The 20-year-old men were both found in the front seat of the SUV, which carried a temporary license plate. They were identified as Avery Flynn, of the 1800 block of East Columbus Drive in East Chicago, Ind., and Patrick S. Hopson Jr., of the 4400 block of Miller Avenue in Gary, according to the Lake County coroner's office.

The area where the two were found is known for drug traffic, police said.

Police recovered no weapons or drugs at the scene, Stout told the Post-Tribune.

Residents in the area called police after hearing gunfire, leading officers to the scene.
