Mother, Son Discovered Bound, Dead At Southwest Side Fire Scene

(CBS) -- Crews responding to a fire on Chicago's Southwest Side found two bodies in a home on Thursday afternoon.

The two adult victims were a 48-year-old woman and her 22-year-old autistic son. One was bound and gagged, and the other was stabbed, in a residence in the 3600 block of West 55th Place. A couch in the home had been set on fire, sources told CBS 2.

Firefighters responded just before 3 p.m. Police say no one is in custody for a crime that sources say began with a home invasion.

The address is in the West Elsdon neighborhood, near Chicago's Midway Airport.

Relatives says the spouse of the woman was at work and another son, who is school-aged, was in class, CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports.
