Two Rookie Chicago Cops Help Save Gunshot Victim
(CBS) -- Chicago Police say two rookie officers helped save the life of a 19-year-old gunshot victim.

It was Sunday evening when Officers John McGlynn and Michael Hughes heard the call about shots fired in Englewood.
And as they responded, McGlynn says, they noticed two men -- one apparently holding the other up.
"One was bleeding excessively around his knee, all the way down. His jeans were completely covered in blood," he says. "Mike got them to stop and calmed down. And he tried to get a story from them."
McGlynn says he got gloves and tourniquet out, and they rendered first aid. He and his partner followed the ambulance to the hospital.
Officer Hughes is 30. McGlynn is 32. They've been Chicago Police officers since February.
Hughes credits the Chicago Police Foundation, which gave about 200 first aid kits to officers.
"Definitely something that all police officers should have out in the streets," he says.
