Two Chicago Police Officers Injured During NW Side Traffic Stop
(CBS) -- Two Chicago Police officers are hospitalized after an early-morning traffic stop on the Northwest Side, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.
Police had pulled over a cargo van near Belmont and Long at 1:10 a.m. and two officers were walking up to the vehicle when it sped through a red light, police say, hitting another squad car and two parked cars.
Two male officers inside the squad car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Police News Affairs.
The van's driver, a 35-year-old male, was transported in critical condition to Illinois Masonic.
Police say the four passengers in the van refused medical treatment.
