TSA Holds Deadly Show And Tell At O'Hare
(CBS) – We know that taking off shoes for passengers can be a nuisance.
Did you ever wonder why the rules are what they are at the airport?
Friday, the TSA at O'Hare International Airport took reporters behind the scene for a "Security 101" show and tell.
One of the items on display was a training device used by the TSA, based on intelligence of what terrorists might create. It was a shoe with a simulated bomb inside.
Even everyday items not explicitly prohibited can get extra attention, things as innocent as baby wipes and candles could hide dangers.
Authorities also showed off some items confiscated at O'Hare that have no business being on a plane. For example: a blade concealed within a lipstick.
Someone also tried to get on a plane carrying a replica grenade. Even though it's fake the TSA wants you to know there's no such thing as an acceptable bomb joke.
