Trump Supporters Flock To Wisconsin To See President-Elect
(CBS) -- President-Elect Donald Trump winged his way back to Wisconsin to say thanks to a state that helped carry him to the White House.
CBS 2 Political Reporter Derrick Blakley reports from the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.
Right off the bat, Trump bragged about not only winning the Wisconsin recount but increasing his margin of victory.
He thanked his Wisconsin backers for an effort that accomplished what some thought was impossible.
Later, the president-elect pivoted to defending his controversial pick for secretary of state: Exxon Mobil Chairman Rex Tillerson, who has close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Rex will be a fierce advocate of America's interests around the world and has the insights and talents necessary to help reverse years of foreign policy blunders," Trump said.
In particular, Trump criticized America's long Middle East involvement, which he says wasted $6 trillion and countless military lives.
Trump summed up his domestic policy this way: "Jobs, jobs, jobs."
Scores of Trump supporters queued up in the frigid cold for a chance to support the man they call their hero.
"The guy's great. He's going to change American, and I really wanted to be part of this," Greenfield, Wisc. resident Mark Janeczko Sr. says.
So did 85-year-old Lynn Nimee, who made the long drive from Spring Valley, Illinois.
Lombard resident Kathleen Carver is anxious for action.
"I believe he is a mover and a shaker. He knows how to get in, do what he has to do and get the job done," she says.
