Truck Driver Dies After Collision With Amtrak Train In Western Illinois

GALVA, Ill. (AP) -- A semitrailer driver has died after his truck collided with an Amtrak train in western Illinois.

The (Moline) Dispatch reports the crash occurred about 10 a.m. Thursday near the community of Galva. The semitrailer driver was not immediately identified.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the westbound train on its Carl Sandburg line collided with a vehicle on the tracks. He says none of the 46 passengers or four crew members was injured.

Magliari says the train originating in Chicago was due to stop next in Galesburg before continuing on to Quincy.

He says passengers were delayed about two hours before being bused to a different train.
