Trestman: Everyone 'Hurting' From Loss To Panthers
(CBS) After seeing his team blow a 14-point lead in a 31-24 loss at Carolina on Sunday, Chicago coach Marc Trestman called it a setback that the Bears won't be able to go over quickly.
"This one is one that all of us are hurting from," Trestman said in a Monday morning interview on WBBM 780. "We had every opportunity to go into Carolina and win, with the expectations to do that and we came up short. It's something we have to take a long, hard look at today."
The Bears led 21-7 in the second quarter with a chance to go up by three touchdowns, but a Martellus Bennett missed block prevented Matt Forte from reaching the end zone. That drive then stalled and Chicago came up empty when Robbie Gould missed a field goal. Later, three fourth-quarter turnovers proved mighty costly as Carolina came back from a 24-21 deficit with 10 points in a 2-minute, 11-second stretch.
"There's a lot of football to be played ... but we got to play better together," Trestman said.
"(It's) not good enough, not acceptable."
The Bears are now 2-3, a game behind the Packers and Lions in the NFC North.
