Toddler Among 5 Injured In Brighton Park Crash
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Five people, including a toddler, were seriously injured when their vehicle struck a light pole in the Brighton Park neighborhood early Tuesday.
Police and fire officials said a car struck a pole at Kedzie Avenue and Pershing Road at about 5:10 a.m.
Rescuers were forced to use the jaws of life to get some of the victims out of the crumpled car.
Five people were taken to hospitals in serious to critical condition. Three women – ages 19 to 24 – were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. A 19-year-old woman and a 2-year-old girl were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
It was not clear if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
