Three Wounded In West Garfield Park Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two women and a man were seriously wounded Monday night, when a gunman opened fire on their minivan in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The three young adults stopped at a stop sign in the 4100 block of West Maypole Avenue around 9:20 p.m., when a car pulled up behind them, and someone inside the car shot at them.

All three people inside the minivan were wounded. A 21-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and back. She was in critical condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Another 21-year-old woman was shot in the head, and a 19-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. Police said their conditions had stabilized.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a silver sedan.

The motive for the shooting was unclear, and the relationship between everyone involved was unknown.
