Three Inmates Stabbed At Cook County Jail

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three Cook County Jail inmates were hospitalized after being stabbed inside the Southwest Side facility on Wednesday morning.

A gang-related fight broke out in Division 11 of the jail about 8:30 a.m. and three inmates were stabbed, Cook County sheriff's spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.

All three were taken by ambulance, two to Stroger Hospital and one to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable condition," Fire Media Cmdr. Velez said.

Ansari said the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, and no jail staff were injured.
