Three Hurt After Car Crashes Into Libertyville Home
(CBS) -- Three people were hurt when a car crashed into a home in a residential neighborhood in north suburban Libertyville.
A fire department spokesman said that the accident occurred about 6 p.m. in the 400 bloc of Ridgewood Lane when a black Acura sedan driving down Butterfield Road apparently lost control.
"Entered the back corner of the house which was a master bedroom and came to rest about midway in the middle of the house," said Libertyville Fire Dept. Chief Richard Carani.
A man and woman who live there in a different part of the house at the time of the accident and were unharmed.
The three injured people, a man, woman and child, had to be extracted from the car. Their conditions are unknown.
Ken Thumholme lives across the street and talked to another driver who was a witness.
"They said the car was flying down Butterfield," Thumholme said. "They thought it was going 70-80 miles an hour. It is a 40 mile an hour speed limit."
Thumholme says he has often complained about speeding traffic along Butterfield Road.
