Thousands Pack Navy Pier Ahead Of Fireworks Show
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Communities around Chicago are gearing up to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks.
Thousands of people are filling the lakefront and Navy Pier for one of the biggest and brightest shows.
CBS 2's Jeremy Ross has more on that celebration and some of the safety measures involved.
Navy Pier estimates about 125,000 will be there to see the Fourth of July fireworks.
Those going into Navy Pier had their bags searched as law enforcement tries to keep out things like weapons, alcohol, coolers and skateboards.

Navy pier says they're working with a number of law enforcement agencies to keep them safe.
"We will have additional security here to insure everyone has a safe and comfortable experience," said Navy Pier spokesman Nick Shields. "We're very excited about the Fourth."
