The Bernstein Brief: Bulls' Odd Streak Rolls On

(CBS) It can't really be meaningful, but after Thursday night's 95-91 victory over a Spurs team previously undefeated on the road, the Bulls have now won 16 straight Thursday night home games that have been televised on TNT.  It was a stat researched before the game by 670thescore.com's Cody Westerlund, and it again held to form.

That spans enough rosters and coaches and rotations to make any grand conclusions suspect, but it's sure easy to want to look for reasons for all that success in what are usually higher-profile games against marquee opponents and star players.

Spurs big man Pau Gasol, who spent the past two seasons in Chicago, said afterward that: "The Bulls usually get up against good teams.  The challenge is getting up against the not-so-good teams and winning those games, which has been an issue."

Feel free to roll your eyes at the fact that Gasol himself was plenty involved in some of those clunkers, as hearing it from him might just exacerbate the fact that he's right about too many regular seasons of inconsistent effort from the Bulls that may still be an issue, even now.
