Texas Man Charged In Fatal December Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Texas man has been charged with fatally shooting one man and wounding another in a December attack in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Phillip L. Allison, 35, of Missouri City, Texas, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the Dec. 14 shooting, according to Chicago Police.

Two men were standing in the front vestibule of an apartment building in the 300 block of North Central Avenue about 1:25 a.m. when a gunman entered with several other people and opened fire, police said at the time.

Deangelo Shelton, 26, was shot several times in the abdomen and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A 25-year-old was shot once in the abdomen and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "guarded" condition, police said.

Allison was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Houston and extradited to Chicago on Monday, police said. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
